Turkish Airlines History

Turkish Airlines (www.turkishairlines.com) is the national flag carrier of Turkey. Established in 1933 and headquartered at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport, the airline operates scheduled flight services to 280 destinations around the world, including key cities across Africa, Asia, Europe as well as North and South America.

Turkish Airline was founded on 20 th May 1933. It is the fourth largest airline in the world measured by the number of destinations flown to, and also flies to the most countries in the world.

During the same year, the total asset value of the airline was estimated at US$16.383. The company was employing over 18,600 staff members by as early as 2013, and has plans to grow their revenue to US$12 billion in 2016.

The Business Class seat aboard the B777-300 and A330-300 fleets includes an ottoman that creates a sleeping area of 188cm when in the fully reclined position.

Turkish Airlines Baggage Allowance

Turkish Airlines now also offers ‘Miniport’ – a service provided by the airline where Turkish Airlines will pick up your luggage from the airport, and drop it off for you to collect at Taksim, in the Istanbul city centre.

Turkish Airlines Check In

Passengers can make use of Turkish Airline online check-in between 24 hours to 90 minutes prior to the departure time of flight. Check-in can also be done at the airport desks.

These desks are closed 60 minutes to international and 45 minutes to domestic flights scheduled departing time.

Passengers are required to inform themselves on the timings of check-in when booking, to ensure that they do not miss their flights.
