Omu Resort

Resort · Lagos

Omu Resort is a popular leisure resort and adventure park at Bogije, off the Lekki–Epe Expressway in eastern Lagos. The 100+ hectare site combines a zoo with native and exotic animals, water park, paintball, go-karting, an amusement park and event halls — Lagos's largest single-location family entertainment complex.

Why Omu Resort

Omu Resort is the largest single-location family entertainment complex in Lagos. The 100+ hectare site at Bogije, off the Lekki–Epe Expressway, packs a substantial zoo, a water park, a paintball range, go-karting, an amusement park with traditional fair rides, event halls and an artificial lake into one fenced compound. For Lagos families, school groups and corporate offsite organisers, Omu has become the default day-trip destination on the Lekki–Epe corridor — busy on most weekends and packed during school holidays.

The resort is privately owned and operated, with a continuous expansion programme that has steadily added new attractions year on year. The original anchor was the zoo; the water park, the karting circuit and the amusement park additions have transformed it into a much broader entertainment proposition.

What's on Site

  • The Zoo — the on-site collection includes lions, ostriches, monkeys, crocodiles, peacocks, antelope and a long list of bird species. Native Nigerian wildlife is the focus, with selected international additions. Enclosures vary in size and presentation.
  • Water park — pools, water slides, splash zones for younger children. The water park is one of the most popular attractions during the dry season.
  • Paintball range — multiple paintball arenas with rental equipment. Popular for corporate team-building, birthday parties and weekend groups.
  • Go-karting — outdoor karting circuit with single and tandem karts for hire.
  • Amusement park rides — traditional fair rides including the Ferris wheel, carousel and assorted spinning rides for children.
  • Boat rides on the artificial lake.
  • Horse and donkey rides for younger visitors.
  • Mini-golf course.
  • Picnic and barbecue areas on the lawns near the lake.
  • Restaurants and food kiosks across the property.

Getting There

Omu Resort sits at Bogije, off the Lekki–Epe Expressway, past Lakowe and just before Ibeju-Lekki proper. The drive from Victoria Island takes 60–90 minutes in normal traffic; weekend traffic on the Lekki–Epe Expressway can push this materially longer, particularly on Saturday mornings and Sunday returns. Self-drive is the standard approach for families. Ride-hail (Bolt, Uber) is feasible but the long round-trip fare is significant. Some operators run scheduled day-trip packages from central Lagos including transport, entry and lunch.

Practical Information

The resort opens daily, with peak operation 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Entry tickets are sold at the gate; pre-booked group bookings and packages are available for larger parties. Entry fees vary by age and the inclusions (zoo-only, all-access, water park add-on, paintball/karting per-session pricing). Budget ₦5,000–₦15,000 per adult depending on activity choice, with reduced rates for children. Card and cash payment accepted at the main gate; activity-specific kiosks may be cash-only.

When to Visit

Weekdays are dramatically quieter than weekends. School holidays (Easter, Christmas, mid-term breaks) draw the largest crowds; Sunday afternoons are typically the busiest single time slot. The dry season (November to March) is the best general visiting window — drier picnic areas, more reliable water-park operation. The rainy season (May to October) is workable but expect occasional ride and water-park closures during heavy rain.

For Families and Groups

The combination of activities means Omu works for very wide age ranges — toddlers enjoy the petting zoo, donkey rides and the playground; primary-school children gravitate to the amusement park and water park; teenagers prefer the karting, paintball and water slides; adults appreciate the picnic spaces, food court and event halls. A typical family visit runs 4–6 hours; corporate or group events often extend into the evening with hired event halls.

Events and Catering

Birthday parties, corporate offsites and school excursions are widely booked at Omu. The resort has multiple event halls (the largest accommodating several hundred guests), catering capability and on-site coordination for these events. Wedding ceremonies have also been hosted at the resort, particularly outdoor lakeside ceremonies. Advance booking is essential for weekend events.

What to Bring

  • Swimwear and quick-dry change of clothes for the water park.
  • Sunscreen and a sunhat — the open lawns are mostly unshaded.
  • Comfortable closed shoes for walking and the activity zones.
  • Cash for activity-specific kiosks alongside cards.
  • Insect repellent for late-afternoon and evening events.
  • A change of clothes for children — water and food spills are inevitable.
  • A camera or phone for photos at the zoo, the rides and the lake.

Safety and Etiquette

The resort employs lifeguards at the water park and ride attendants at the amusement zones. Adult supervision of children is essential — the property is large and crowded on busy days, and lost-child reports are not uncommon. Do not climb fences or attempt to feed or touch animals beyond the petting-zoo zone. Drone use is not permitted without prior resort authorisation. The site has basic medical first-aid; serious medical issues need transport to a Lekki or Victoria Island hospital.

Combining With Other Lekki Attractions

Omu pairs naturally with other eastern-Lagos attractions for a longer day or weekend. Lekki Conservation Centre is closer to Victoria Island on the same expressway and works well as the morning visit before Omu in the afternoon. La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort is further east and is a sleeker beach-resort alternative for visitors prioritising private beach over family activities. For overnight stays in the corridor, see the hotels directory for Lekki, Lakowe and Ibeju-Lekki options.
